Team Xecuter - X2 5028 BIOS GOES GOLD !

It’s been over a year since we last did any X2 work but after a gazillion requests went back to visit an old freind.

Over the last week many users have contributed to a heavy amount of Beta testing to iron out any obvious (and not so obvious bugs). We now feel this is a rock solid release and ready for general consumption and Team Xecuter is proud to present X2 Config Live 5028.

All your favourite functions are here including the very important v1.6 support - now with the ability to tweak all your bios settings much like the X3 Mod / Bios in a simple ini file - no patching of your bios required whenever you want to change a simple setting, be it startup colors, fan speed, dashboard priority, bootable partition, debug mode and much more !

The only option you will need to patch is the LBA48 option - and we have coded the bios in such as way as it does not need unpacking in anyway - a simple 1 byte patch and away you go ! (We have included a bullshit simple app for you to do this patching if you have no knowledge of winhex - all details included in the release)

There will be a very nice PC app similar to NghtShd’s Xbtool giving you all the options to auto create your ini files and also to patch your LBA48 options. Of course we will also release an XBE so you can have something similar to the X3 embedded application to config all your settings - plus much more to come.

We will concentrate more time on this bios in future so you can be sure the features will grow and of course as its 512k and has no specific hardware requirements you can use this bios on ANY modchip. That’s right, Xecuter even has love for Xenium and Smartxx users too Razz

Microsoft patents 911 | The Register

Microsoft was today granted a patent for accessing data used by the emergency services.

“The present invention provides a method and system for maintaining emergency data in a manner that provides straightforward user access thereto via a displayed emergency page (or set of pages) or other suitable user interface,” according to the Patent documentation. “In one embodiment, the operating system or other suitable components maintain a repository of emergency data such that emergency type information can be aggregated and displayed in one place.”

“In sum, what is needed is a way to provide users with access to needed emergency information. This should be simple from the user’s perspective, so that even very emotional users can find what is needed in a straightforward, yet comprehensive process.”

Of the 13 supporting images published by the USPTO, not one shows a very emotional user. But the document does disclose a user interface for at least one preferred implementation.
