Digg.com
has decided that I’m some kind of threat to them. I thought
all I was doing was adding to their success and popularity, but they
don’t see it that way.So they
have decided to take legal action against the use of my domain name
(DiggGames.com).I’m forced
to move my collection of games that have been featured on the front
page of digg.com to my new location www.Games1.orgHere is
their correspondence:
Some of you may not find this as interesting as I do. But Digg trys to maintain that “Down to Earth”, “Empower the people”, and “Open Source feel” however their track record shows quite the opposite.
First they have been saying that they were going to Open the digg source to the community — it has been made clear they will never do that. Now secondly their lawyers are taking down fan sites? Come on Digg, you are dragging your name through the mud.

wow. that’s really low of digg. if they have problems with people using the word ‘digg’ in a domain name, maybe they should just buy everything that contains it.

I’ve only visited digg once and after this I will not do so again for a long time
If the fan site was in competition with digg then i wouldn’t have a problem, but it was a freakin fan site! WTH?
reminds me of “mike roe soft” and MS’s suit agains that kid.

Wonder if its just the lawyers doing this?
I’m not sure how it works but you would think they would go out and try to secure business for themselves, no?
digg the article here: http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_Forces_Shutdown_of_DiggGames_com_Domain I’m sure it will get cleared up.

They actually aren’t trying to be hardasses.
The digg article:
http://diggtheblog.blogspot.com/2006/08/digg-trademarks-and-confusion.html
In Digg’s words:
“Apparently if you don’t enforce the TM (meaning not let other sites use it), we run the chance of losing it… which would suck. The last thing we want is to lose our name.”
