Just completed it and wondering how big the usb key is they’re giving away. I looked around but could not find anything, I hope its not like 16mb, that would suck.

March 1st, 2006 at 8:48 am
how do you do it?
March 1st, 2006 at 8:49 am
how do you get the key chain?
March 1st, 2006 at 8:59 am
I got them to send me 3 of them.
All I had to do is change to a different e-mail address and re-submit the form. I didn’t even have to sign out of passport.
They even shipped them all to the same address!

How much space does it hold?
March 1st, 2006 at 9:44 pm
probably 16-64 megs
March 2nd, 2006 at 2:16 am
You people are setting your hopes way too high. This is most likely something like 4 megs of ROM filled with all that nice useless info they promised in the little image.
But yeah, words cant express how hilarious it would be to carry linux around on a Microsoft branded usb drive provided by microsoft themselves at no cost to us… Mmmm… I can almost taste the spite now…
March 2nd, 2006 at 6:44 pm
Hah, or maybe Billy decided to win us over from Apple and got us all 4 GB USB 2.0 drives…a boy can dream, can’t he?
I’ll give $1 to the first person to install a bootable copy of OSX on the sucker. :p

i don’t suppose anyone knows why the link won’t work for me….
March 2nd, 2006 at 8:44 pm
I assume this thing isn’t write protected ?
Has anyone figured out how big it is ?
Thanks.

I heard somewhere that this free key has some spyware/malware/root kits/ other nasty stuff that is used to check if the Windows version you’re using is legal or not… any news on this?
I’d imagine a format of the Flash drive would fix it, but you never know what could get on your PC through their little free toy. Just a heads up to everyone
March 4th, 2006 at 1:31 pm
that’s why i’m going to test it on an “expendable” computer first. i’d imagine it would have some scary things on it. maybe try plugging it into something other than windows and see if it releases viruses to destroy the competition…
March 5th, 2006 at 2:05 am
Dude i just got mine and it had a gb of space on it and i deleted all the files on it in my linux partiion lol man ms is crazy!
March 5th, 2006 at 1:58 pm
Not only will I test it on an expendable computer, I’m testing it on a computer running Ubuntu, so it cant do anything malicious anyway.
And to the person who made comment 19… I don’t know when Microsoft first put that offer up, but I doubt it was 2 months ago. You are full of shit, theres no way you could have it by now.
March 5th, 2006 at 3:40 pm
yeah, and i don’t think that it’d have a gig of space unless it was full of a gig of stuff… but you never know. we can hope.
March 5th, 2006 at 9:26 pm
Love it, dont care about how much space cause its free
March 6th, 2006 at 7:35 am
free USB drive…
I’m not sure if you guys want another USB drive added to your list of unused computer parts. Microsoft is giving away free USB drives… Yes, Microsoft! They did not mention how big the drive is and it may end up to be totally usless for you….
March 8th, 2006 at 8:31 pm

March 21st, 2006 at 1:17 pm

April 5th, 2006 at 7:50 pm
