So you’ve heard about this homebrew thing that all the cool kids have been doing, but you have already upgraded to version 2.6 of the firmware so that you could play all the latest and greatest games on the PSP. Fortunately for you, some very diligent hackers have been working round the clock to discover ways to get around the limitations put in place by the latest firmware.
The solution isn’t in the form of a downgrader, but rather in the form of an eLoader (EBOOT loader) that lets you use Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories to run homebrew on a PSP with version 2.0, 2.01, 2.5, and 2.6 of the firmware. Not all homebrew will run via this method, but there is a rather easy to read compatibility chart and I’m sure more things will begin working in future releases of the eLoader.

If this one is anything like the 2.00 Eboot Loader, they will get 90% of the games working and add wifi support for wifi homebrew (like PSPRadio) as soon as they can.
However, I’m quite content with my 1.50 PSP ^_^

Having used the GTA eLoader to successfully execute homebrew on my own PSP (arrived with FW2.5) almost as soon as I got it, I can confirm that an awful lot of hombrew apps and games function perfectly.
The latest version of the eLoader now adds seamless wifi support for homebrew wifi apps and utilities. I haven’t even begun to play around with this, but the author of the eLoader claims to have successfully tested PSPRadio!
A whole lot more may be working now, and the eLoader is still in its infancy, so it’s proving to be quite an exciting development for users lumbered with 2.5 and 2.6 firmware.
Just my 2p… ^_^
