Yes, its free BUT. it dosent even start to compete with what the new MS Office includes and has to offer. Its so easy to use and flexible compared to the older versions.  The new office interface makes openoffice look like a dogs arse.

The only other advantage is the fact its open source, but the quantity of people have the skills, time and purpose to alter open office to their needs and style is very small compared to those who just wish to write a letter.

I know it costs and absurd ammount of money, but its worth the investment or obtaining it via alternate methods if you cant afford it.

Im not trying to shoot down Ooo, but dont dismiss a Microsoft product, just because its Microsoft.</description>
